I have a 2 bedroom terraced house. How long will it take to get this repointed? Also, any idea how much this will cost?

I mean how long will it take to get a professional to do this and how much. Not interested in doing it myself.

It depends on the actual style of pointing you require. Assuming the house is a red brick construction with bucket handle pointed joints, assume two days for a man to grind out the joints (should be a minimum depth of 12mm, or the new mortar will fall out. Check that this has been done properly prior to the builder commencing with repointing). Actual repointing will again take around 2 days, so worst case scenario is for 4 days' labour @ £200 per day (that is top rate, you will probably pay less unless you're in London).
Due to working at height regulations the builder will need a tower scaffold, so assume a hire cost for the week of £200 for a 6m narrow span tower. Sundry materials such as sand/cement/bonding agent will add another £75 or so, so in total you should pay no more than £1075. This is for a top notch tradesman charging top rates and doing a Rolls Royce job, though if they are VAT registered this will need to be added also.
A good tip if you don't know any good builders is to call your local trading standards office. Many of them run an approved tradesman scheme, so you will be confident of getting a good job done.
Also, try not to grimace too much at the cost, as you will get this back in added equity to your home.

if it is front and back of the house and the builder can get a scafold tower next to the house two brickies should have i raked out and repointed in a week brickies usualy want around £100 to £120 a day so this would come to £1200 and then the hire of the tower and the materials around £1400 in total any more and they are probably pikeys trying to rip you off like the ones on rogue traders

Asuming that your house is made of brick, I would guess this would take one man and a lad about three days (including raking out). and probably charge you about £600. But you will need room for an access tower

if its done properly ..then the joints will have to be raked out ..the wall will have to be wetted down ..then re pointed ..the secret of re pointing is to keep the mortar off the bricks ..this is where the mortar mix is so important must be kept just workable ...most amateurs mix it too wet ...then the application ..this is where the bricklayer earns his money ..remember your house is your most valuable possession and you don't want to ruin it by employing a cowboy ....expect to pay between£800 to £1000
