I purchased a new vacuum a few wks ago. We have a new rug and there are fuzz balls all over the rug (I think from it being new). The fuzz is getting caught in the vacuum and the vacuum is not picking stuff up. Do you think this is caused by the rug being new or is it b/c the vacuum is a cheap piece of crap (about $60)? Thanks

The fuzz is probably from the rug being new. It not being picked up is because your vacuum is a piece of crap. Try changing the bag or emptying the dirt cup on the vacuum. They need to be pretty clean to maintain good suction.

As a rule the higher the amps on the vacuum the better suction it will have. You say you spent sixty dollars on the vacuum, it is at best the cheap end of the spectrum, what you need to do is invest some money into a good vacuum.

I would suggest getting one with at least 14 amps, and were you can save money is by getting one without all the fancy attachments. Just make sure you get one that can be adjusted to different carpet piles.

It is likely because the carpet is new and will have loose fibers left over from the manufacturing process all over it. It will probably continue to have fuzz blobs for awhile, until all the loose fibers work out of it. Try sweeping it first and picking the fuzz balls off, then vacuum it. And you may have to de-tangle your vacuum cleaner first if you've already sucked up a lot of fuzz.

The fuzzies are left-over from the rug being put it, they'll plug your vac *** and cause it to stall and, burn out. Sweep the carpet first with a straw broom to get the bigger pieces then, vacuum the carpet but, be careful and watch so you don't plug it, clean it often. You can ruin a new vacuum doing this.

I used to work as a house-keeper. And when cleaning an apartment for a new resident, one thing that was frequently done was install new carpet- which would frequently have fuzzies all over it. And I would have to empty my machine after vacuuming the new carpet, and sometimes even about halfway through.

You'll want to make sure your hoses aren't clogged too.
