I just moved in to a new apartment, and it has ALOT of work that needs to be done;including ripping up carpets, tiled floors, and painting. I am trying to find the best way to rip them up(the press and stick tiles) because it seems to me that they have been down for a while and when I rip them up they are not coming up very easy. Is there some type of solution I can use to make them come up easier? Please help. I am in dying need of fixing this place it is practically a disaster! All different types of tiles in one room..from brown and blue to white and checkered yellow brown! It's a disaster area and I want to make it purty. Thanks!

I have purchased two ceramic heaters and an oil filled heater for use this coming winter. We have a heat pump on our unit and it eats us up in the winter time with heating bills.
The heaters that I bought all have thermostats and can be set at 750 or 1500 watts. I did use the oil filled radiant heater some last year and it seemed to help with the bills but the back rooms were cool so I bought the ceramic heaters to use this coming year.
We have a small 2 bedroom, one bath house. Less than 900 sq feet.

Why do people ask questions about appliances on this site and fail to give the brand of appliance? do they not understand that asking a question without that info is like asking a motorcycle mechanic how to fix an 18 wheeler engine???? Or do they just not understand that it is done differently by different manufacturers????

I heard this from a friend. Wouldn't that dull the edge? Is there a better way to sharpen them?

We had this door at the time when we moved. It's about 7 years now and on ocassions, when we press the remote (which is used to open and close the garage door), the door would start to close but once it reaches not even 1/4 of the way down, it would automatically go back up. I'm not sure if age is a possibility but I reckon it could be something to do with the chains. Can someone have a theory on why this is doing that? Because i'm sick of opening and closing it by hand.

Hi, ive just bought a zippo lighter and filled it up with the zippo lighter fluid. When i open the lid and light the zippo, the flame jumps across to the gas which is in the lid and the lid creates a mini fire!! Is my zippo faulty or is gas meant to build up in the lid?? Also, if gas does build up in the lid if i left it for a couple of days might the pressure build up so much that it explodes???? Please help, im worried!!

My family and I just moved into a new house a little less than a month ago. The house was built approx. 2 years ago. I asked my mom about getting a better showerhead in the kid's bathroom and she said that wouldn't be a problem, but the Plumber's Tape is still going strong, so she can't get it out. Is there a way to dissolve it or anything with out ruining the chrome on the plumbing fixtures?

I was strolling about in purgatory today when I found a big machine. It was as wide as two refrigerators and about eight feet tall. It was slightly rusty. It had a single large pipe that came out of the top on one side, and the pipe seemed to have some kind of needle in it. There was no door, but inside you could hear a sound like crying babies.

There were two big handles that didn't move at all, and there was something that looked like a hammer on a gear sticking out of the front. Every fifteen seconds there would be a soft "hiss", and gray-green smoke would come out of the vents on the side.

On the front, there was one single button. Should I go back tomorrow and press it? What will happen?

How much is it to fit a gas hob? A relatively simple job on a kitchen island so no crawl about dinghy corners. There was a six inch extention required to the existing pipe under the floorboards and then some copper piping with about 4 elbows from the floor into the appliance. Job done. But charged £240.

My porcelain bathtub was refinished and it is all peeling off.
What is the best way to remove it? Is there a product that will dissolve it? A razor blade scraper is taking forever. THANKS

Does anyone know of any grant programs in Texas that will pay for home repair? I have a neighbor who lives on SSI and can't possibly repay any kind of loan. She's also 10 years too young to qualify for a reverse mortgage. I don't think her house would qualify, either--the roof is leaking and the foundation is cracked. She also needs a lot of other work.
I've checked every website I can think of, including HUD, which only has programs for loans and rural homeowners. Does anyone have any other ideas? This lady really needs help!

When I turn the setting to cool, the blower will only work about every other day. The outside unit works every time, but the blower does not seem to work but every other day. The outside unit will occasionally get some ice on it as well.

There was no insurance!

Last Thursday morning around 1 am a drunk driver crashed into our house. Our church set up a fund for us because we lost everything in the living room all our furniture and a chair, a stereo, a homemade shelf, a number of framed photos and a collection of antique glassware my great grandparents brought from Germany in the 1920s. We had no response from the fund and all our bills are backed up because my mom had to take almost a week off of work. We are out about 5,000..... I want to write to business around here for donations but im only a 15 year old girl and i have no clue where to even start...... ANY ADVICE

I'm thinking my unit is too small for my home.

It's about 90 degrees outside where I live and my house isn't that cool inside even when I turn down the a/c to 64 the thermo reads that it's 73-74 degrees inside and it doesn't freeze up or kick off.

I'm not sure the square footage of the house..... 1500?, 2000?, 2500?, 3000?, 3500?...... if possible, maybe it'll give an idea on what size of unit should be used per 500 sq. ft.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

I have some tenants that brought in bed bugs with a used box spring. I know that they brought them into the unit as there are no bed bugs in the other four units. I called my lawyer and he said to write a letter saying that they cannot bring used furniture unless it was cleaned. I wrote the letter to the tenants and put it on thier door. they called me and said they were going to move out. i told them they can but they will have to pay for the rest of the leases rent. what do I do?
Sorry for being so long!
