Brand Name???

Question

Why do people ask questions about appliances on this site and fail to give the brand of appliance? do they not understand that asking a question without that info is like asking a motorcycle mechanic how to fix an 18 wheeler engine???? Or do they just not understand that it is done differently by different manufacturers????

SO TRUE. THE PROBLEM IS IF YOU TRY TO ANSWER A QUESTION LIKE-"THE WATER WONT COME IN TO MY DISHWASHER. WHAT IS WRONG?" IT TAKES 3 PAGES TO COVER ALL THE POSSIBLE BRANDS. I JUST BYPASS THAT QUESTION AND GO ON TO FIND A QUESTION THAT CAN BE ANSWERED WITHOUT ALL THAT WORK. MANY OF THE ANSWERS THAT ARE GIVEN DON'T TAKE NOTE THAT THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN EACH BRAND AND SO THEIR ANSWER IS JUST MISLEADING. OH WELL, I'M DONE RANTING.

A lot of times, when you have a self help site, or a site where you rely on the words of complete strangers they dont have the knowledge of what to do. Thats why it is much easier to hire a professional, but as you all know its far too expensive, and theres always the likelihood of getting screwed by the service facility. In the event they dont put the name, they always have the edit feature, its up to them to watch their own question to edit and add as needed. Most people who post feedback will note this right away.

Here's a better question: Why do people continue to ask the same questions that have been asked & answered before? How do they know how to use this bulletin board, but not how to use a simple search engine?

I'd guess that a lot of people don't even know what brand or model appliance they own.

People that know enough to provide all the detailed information are also often smart enough to figure it out themselves. Its the people that really don't know anything about it that ask a question here and don't leave enough info.
