1. Make sure there's a battery in it.
2. Make sure the wire is attached to the back
3. Trace the wire to the firing area and adjust the gap.

Those ignitors for gas grills almost never work right. Most people just buy one of those long butane lighters for gas stoves etc. See if your grill has a ~1/2" hole in the side somewhere to get acess to the burner (usually, the hole is put in at the factory for this purpose). Make certian the lighter you buy will fit through. Light the lighter first, then turn on the gas. If your burner has 2 valves, be sure to open the side where the lighter is. If there is no hole try sticking down through the grill wires as close to the burner as possible, the closer the better The reason you want the lighter near the burner is so the gas will light immediately. If you just hold a match above the grill, the gas will accumulate in a big cloud and finaly when it reaches the match it will look like the Hindenburg! Hence the person with no hair on their arm.

Electric Igniter For Gas Grill

why some always say make sure your battery is good.. I have had dozens of grills over the years(I am over 50 yrs old) built all my own...and never have seen this type of ignition.
However i agree with the one guy who says they almost never work right! this is true and you simply need to either use a long stick match or buy a butane lighter for this purpose..

I can't fix your grill (although they sell ignitor switches at fleet farm), you can still use it.

We get a new grill every 3 years and almost immediately the ignitor switch goes out. You can still light it by hand- just be careful:)
