Go to Home Depot & ask about a course.
First, your floor needs to be solid & flat.
You might have to lay a plywood underlay.
Next it has to be clean & free of oil or dust.
Then find & mark the centre lines both ways.
Figure out how many tiles needed each way.
You want partial tiles to come at the edges.
Your first tiles will be on the centreline or over it.
Spread some adhesive with a notched trowel.
Place first tile & row along one centre-line.
Use little "X" shaped spacers at the corners.
Lay first row of tiles across the room.
Cut the edge tiles to fit against walls.
Proceed with remaining rows until finished.
Try to avoid walking on wet tile cement.
Grout the gaps when tiles have set in place.

Tools Needed:
1/4" Notched Trowel
Rubber Grout Float
Tape Measure
Wet Saw / Equivalent
Chalk Line
Rubber Mallet

The first thing you want to do is make sure the floor is level and clean. (If you have a plywood floor you will need to lay a 1/4" concrete sub-floor called "Duroc". Screw this down never nail.) Next measure room length and width. Divide both measurements in half and mark the result on the floor on both ends so you may make a line for the half of the length and another line for half of the width so that your floor looks like a four square. This is important to get tile to equal out on all sides. Mix mud not too thick and not to soupy. ***TIP: Mud should stand up when applied to floor with trowel.*** Spread mud on floor using the 1/4" notched trowel starting in the center of floor but only in one of the four squares you created. Don't cover chalk line for you will need this as a guide. Be sure to spread mud evenly or the tile will not lay down even. Now you're ready to lay tile. Lay your first piece in the corner of one of your squares. Tap down using a rubber mallet. Apply Tile Spacers on the corners to in sure a nice even grout line. Lay your next tile. Repeat this making necessary cuts until entire square is filled. Then move to another square and repeat this process. Once floor is completely laid let dry for approximately 8 hours before walking on it. Now you're ready to grout. Mix grout and apply to floor using grout float. Use a wet sponge to wipe up excess. Floor will look a little hazy but wait until completely dried and dry mop floor with old t-shirt, then wet mop.

This process is complicated without diagrams but if you need help during application just ask.
