kitchen. It's starting to separate. This is the first time I have ever experienced this. I cleaned the floor before laying anything down and I started in the middle. There was only one layer of tile on the floor prior to my putting mine down. Is it because I got it on sale and was cheap? Do I have to pull it up and put more down and can I put replacement tile over it? I've never used any adhesives before, do I need that? Thank you.

I had affixed some mirrored tiles onto my bedroom wall using velcro, and when removing the tiles and velcro strips from the wall, the velcro removed 2 or 3 layers of paint with it! How do I repair this? Will a simple sanding do it? I imagine I couldn't just paint overtop, as the paint layers would show in the texture..

my dad owns this old house that was built in the late 1800 or early 1900's. the well is right behind the house but the last guy who went down in it said it was washed out completely all around and to never send anyone else back down there. is there anything i can do to fix this, iam worried my land will cave in. also doesthis bring my property value down?

I removed cover. Problem is spring often sticks. But it says Do Not Oil. Can I use WD40 to free spring with out fear of fire? Apparently built up dust makes it stick. So it seems.
Thanks.

And what about covering some areas on the wall where nails, etc. have been before I paint over those sections? By the way, I would need to use a long handled brush or something similiar as my ladder is too hard to use with this (one being it's just slight too short even though I'm tall - I have vaulted ceilings). Thanks.

My house is 20 years old and it is a 1 1/2 story with a full basement. The gas furnace/water heaters are in the basement. Access to the basement is through the interior of the house and it's walk-out. I'm planning on totally replacing the smoke detectors, they are not hard wired. With this considered, how many battery operated smoke detectors should I get for my home? 2600 sq feet finished living space with a full unfinished basement. Where should I install the Carbon Monoxide detector?

Can anyone tell me what to expect a termite company will charge when I know there is evidence of termites. I have called around and all companies want atleast $100.00 to come out to give an estimate. We live in the Baltimore, MD area if that makes a difference. The house is only 4 years old.
Thanks for any help!

I'm interested in building a deck off of my kitchen and the city of Malden (state of MA) said that the "setback area" is 20 (I assume feet) from the rear and 10 from the side. Does this mean that my deck can't begin for 10' from my side property line?

Thanks!

Our new brown leather couch has been damaged by the sun and a section of it is now a yucky green/brown. How can I fix it? I put a leather treatment on it with UV protection, but I guess it was not enough. Can I use brown shoe polish or dye it?

The existing roof has rolled tar with a rubber poured roof that failed miserably.

I have already patched, tried repairing with a couple of different materials and visually examined where the leaks might be coming from and the roof is still leaking. There are a couple of areas that are pooling around the airconditioning unit that is located on the roof near where the leaks are dripping into the interior of the house.
