It is possible the machine was not grounded when it was installed. There could be a short somewhere in the house that is not keeping the "flow" of electricity constant through out that flow. Definately call an electrician to check this out, it's a fire hazzard...while he is there have him check "the box" and make sure you have the proper amount/correct wiring coming into the house from outside. It's also possible the lights flicker because the machine is "pulling" more juice than what has been set up.

sounds like a loose connection in the wiring. it could be in the fuse or breaker panel, in a junction box, or the washing machine outlet box. it could be a screw clamp or a wire nut connection causing it, a simple fix for an electrician. this is a common occurrence in an older home, since many people may have worked on the wiring, and some might not have known what they were doing. call an electrician and have it repaired, good luck, hope this helps.

A washing machine typically has it's own circuit due to the amperage it draws. It sounds like your washing machine is on the same circuit with your lighting. Have an electrician run a dedicated circuit.

most likely the outlet is bad and needs replaced or there is a loose wire in the circuit somewhere or you have to much on the circuit that the washing machine is on....i would have an electrician come an run a dedicated circuit just to my washing machine..

Most likely a loose contact in the electrical outlet, that the socket where you plug into. Its common given this socket has taken a high load for some years. Be warned, all modern washing machines are electronically controlled. Have the socket replaced before the washer goes too.

mine does that to, we had a electrician check it out a while ago and they said that our house and wireing is just old and that it cant handel all the "juice" (electric)the washer is needing all at once so all the other electic plugs or what ever wont get as much electic because its all going to the washer....

Have an electrician check the house wiring. There's some electric joint somewhat loose somewhere.
It might lead to fire out a few cases too.
