kitchen. It's starting to separate. This is the first time I have ever experienced this. I cleaned the floor before laying anything down and I started in the middle. There was only one layer of tile on the floor prior to my putting mine down. Is it because I got it on sale and was cheap? Do I have to pull it up and put more down and can I put replacement tile over it? I've never used any adhesives before, do I need that? Thank you.

I had the same experience with a bathroom floor. I seems that no matter how tightly the tiles are butted against one another, they will eventually creep apart. I think the solution is that all the outer perimeter tiles have to be either tacked or aggressively glued down under any baseboards. If the perimeter tiles can move, all the other tiles can shift as well. I changed to one piece vinly flooring eventually. You might check with a flooring store on solving the problem

Good luck

If you are saying that the tiles are becoming loose, you could get some contact cement and reglue them.
