There is plenty room for expansion and contraction. These gaps are not normal. They have occured after a repair by a professional contractor.

Before you do any kind of repairs yourself, I would call the contractor to come back and look at your floors.I think it would be his responsibility to get it corrected not you.

you don't want to fill them. they are caused by expansion and contraction of the wood. if you fill them, the flooring will buckle. flooring will shrink a lot when a house is too dry in the winter, or if the floor was installed before the wood was acclimated to the house. if that is the case, the only cure is to take the floor up and re install it. sorry, that's the way it is. good luck.

You can buy a sort of floor filler putty stuff at Home Depot. That is what the men used that refinished our floor - we have an old Victorian era house.

A colored flexible putty before sanding and then varathane or similar.A darker color than the wood will look best.(dark brown mixture)
