We woke up this morning to frozen pipes. Our cold is fine in the kitchen and bathroom sink in the bathtub neither hot or cold is working. We have a heat lamp but appartenly it got to cold last night for that to prevent it, we had the cold water running in the kitchen. What is the safest way for for us to unthaw them so we don't have to call a plumber or have them burst? Right now we have a small heater underneath and have the water running in the house and have the heat up high. Any other things that may work or will this just take time? Thanks in advance.

I had my house built a year ago. Within about a month the grout around the perimeter of my shower started getting soft -- rubbery-like. Within another month you could squish the grout out of its place with your finger. It was like toothpaste. The contractors came out and looked at it, said it was inexplainable, said it was probably caulking and replaced it with GROUT. I saw them mix it. Within another month the same thing happened. They replaced it again WITH GROUT. This happed three more times. Each time they scratch their heads, say this is impossible and regrout it.

We thought that there was some way that water was coming up from underneath and never allowing it to dry thoroughly in the first place. They say that it IMPOSSIBLE due to the way the pan, the liner and the tile are installed.

Now they're telling me they won't fix it again because obviously the homeowners (us) haven't been cleaning it properly. Hah!!!

What is this and what should we do? Thanks

I have a thirty six year old house which had damp from the
chimney coming through on the bedroom wall four years ago.
This was intially cured by repointing the chimney, but last year it happened again and was stopped by spraying all the brickwork
with a water repellant. Now this weekend with strong winds and rain the damp patch is back.

How do you set the clean cycle on a jenn air oven?

It's only about 5 years old with the flat buttons you push right above the door. Flat top stove. If that helps.

Thanks, I'd appreciate any help.

My son had cotton balls and they got all wet and went down the drain. I can't seem to get the water to go out very well. I had to push up and down on the stopper just to get it started.

I have a ceiling fan in my bedroom with 3 speeds. It has a central glass bowl light. Often, on speeds 2 or 3 the fan hums/buzzes kind of loudly. This is really annoying on speed 2, the most used speed in my house. What might be causing this problem and how can I fix it?

It got pretty cold here last night, and now we have no hot water. The cold water is flowing normally, but the hot water isn't even letting out a trickle. Is it frozen pipes? It is happening with all the faucets in the house. We don't have a basement, so it looks like the pipes are underground, so I can't try to warm them. What should I do ?

There was a water main break in front of our house last night and the city came to repair it. They dug out the bottom part of our drive way, part of our sidewalk, and part of the neighbors side walk and yard. When they finished they filled in what they torn up with what looks like asphalt. So, there is a HILL of asphalt where our driveway/sidewalk/portion of yard used to be. I just wanted to know if inorder to get it repaired properly, do we have to pay for it, or can we report something with the city?

d so the rod doesnt move them--can i just loosen them -attach the cable to each side-readjust the wheels back on the rod to as close to where they were and tighten them back against the rod. this eems a lot easier and safer than untensioning a very powerful spring.

We have a 1+ year old garbage disposal that is leaking so badly out the bottom that it flooded our cleaning products plastic container! Is there any hope for it or should we replace the whole thing? And, do we have to buy "top of the line" or is a "budget" model good enough?

We have a leak in our sink and it has been flooding the area under it. Most of the water has been contained in a plastic container under there, but it appears that over time, some mold has grown on the wall and the bottom. I want to make sure that I clean it up properly and that it won't come back again. What should I use to get rid of it for good?
