Is something loose at the breaker? Could the fuses be loose? Any ideas? Our house was just built this year (so no wiring is old).

I have one story house where the facia board was removed and distroyed. According to City Code it has to be replaced. I want to know of easy way if possible to measure around house from the ground. Is there a way to measure walls from the ground and then add on to get number of feet of Facia Board needed and should I add length to allow for loss due to cutting? I want to be able to price various widths and doing measuring by myself. Minus someone to hold other end of tape on top of a ladder at the roof line in winter weather.

Wonder if there is some neat calculation that can be used. Then I can do a measure of walls and do some arm chair shopping during bad weather for estimates. Ideally, I will then be able to order and have wood delivered and get it painted and then only have to hire someone to cut and nail it up.

After a friend in Iowa told me that they heat their house to 80 degrees for only $1 per day, I had to figure out a better way to do what I am doing. They use a shelled-corn-fueled-furnace. After doing some research I have found that many recommend wood pellet furnaces. So, which is most efficient and which has a stronger future (ie. fuel supply, less volatile price for the commodity, etc.)? Thanks

i have a problem in my house and it seems to be coming from the circuit panel or a breaker . the breaker is fairly new about a year old and i can hear a clicking noise when lights flicker . could it be a bad circuit breaker or loose wire to the breaker?

Well, this is starting to become annoying and I don't know why. I'm 13 and I live in a house that used to be owned by some crazy people. Anyways, one time, at 5:00 AM, all the Alarms went off and I was like "Okay, the batteries must be old, my dad will change them." He changed them and it seemed alright, but the next day it started ringing again.

This happened a month ago and my dad just changed the batteries again just 5 days ago. Right now the alarm is ringing spontaneously and there's nothing on, the heater isn't on, we're not cooking anything, we're just relaxing and the batteries are BRAND new. What do I do or what can my dad do?

The pilot on my gas furnace has gone out. I know that I have to press the knob down for 30 seconds as the pilot lights.

However, where the heck do I light it? Do I just put my lighter anywhere where the tubes are and hope it lights? There is nothing out there that shows you the exact tube you have to light.

It's a common thing for it to go out, but I have never had to light it before.

Please help! Thanks!

I live in Ellensburg, Washington and my landlord refuses to help us get our electric (non-battery) smoke detector fixed. It has been going off intermitantly for weeks. Our ceilings are about 20ft high, so there's no chance of us working on it ourselves. I need to know who to contact to 1) get my landlord in trouble for not doing his job and 2) to fix the darn thing so we're safe at night. I don't know the manufacturer or anything about the smoke detectors because my landlord won't share this information with us. Moving out is not an option. Thanks!

I am very worried about the tile. It seems that in every restraunt, friends house, or anyplace with ceramic tile, it has this shiny gloss to it and never stains. Is this just the tile? Because the grout in my kitchen and bathroom has stained in a couple of places. But at these other places, ie restraunt bathrooms, I have looked and there is no staining at all. Im also scared to mop the floor and end up staining the grout (I have been here a year and have never mopped). Help!! What do I do, and if i need sealer, how do I put it on??? Thanks!!!!

I bought an old house for a rental and all the basement windows are removed and covered. Do I have to have any operating basement windows by law? Is there any difference if I plan to rent it out. It's an unfinished basement so there is nothing down there besides washer and dryer area.

I was defrosting my freezer and I had to get it done right away, so I was tapping the ice lightly with the claw of my hammer. I suddenly heard a hissing sound and white air came hissing out. After getting the rest of the ice out of the way I found I had punctured a small hole the size of a pencil eraser in the freezer. I closed it up the best I could right now with glue and some freezer putty but I am sure it won't hold long as the air coming out of the freezer is strong enough to push past the putty. Also I am not sure if it was the glue, the putty or the air, but something put a light coating of something white on my fingertips and it won't come off. Help please! I am also pregnant and need to know if breathing that air was harmful!
