The pilot on my gas furnace has gone out. I know that I have to press the knob down for 30 seconds as the pilot lights.

However, where the heck do I light it? Do I just put my lighter anywhere where the tubes are and hope it lights? There is nothing out there that shows you the exact tube you have to light.

It's a common thing for it to go out, but I have never had to light it before.

Please help! Thanks!

Follow the small silver gas line that comes out of the gas valve.. (The box thingy with the pilot knob.) It will run down to the burner compartment. Some furnaces have a shield you will have to raise or remove to get to the pilot hood. (EASY). There will also be a small copper colored line running basically along with it, (thermocouple). Pilot flame hits thermocouple. Good luck.

the end of the pilot tube looks like a cobra head (snake) next to it is the thermocouple Copper tube>hold down your "pilot" knob, and light it there.

I don't know what kind of furnace you have; however, the place where you light it should be very close to the knob. It would be a small tube.
