If it is a #1 or #2 fuel oil burning furnace than yes. If it's a K-1 than I would only do it in an emergency.

You can, but you are paying extra (in most states) for road tax. It is also not as clean/refined as Fuel Oil #2 or Kerosene, and may clog your filter and nozzle faster.

Kerosene burns cleaner and a bit hotter. But usually costs a bit more than Fuel Oil #2. But if it is just and issue of not being able to cover the expense of a minimum delivery of 150 gallons, it can suffice and is available in many areas.
