MOST HAVE A 1 YR WTY BUT SOME OF THE EXPENSIVE ONES HAVE A LONGER WTY. THEY ALL HAVE A ROTARY SEAL LOCATED JUST UNDER THE TURNTABLE AND THAT IS WHERE THEY USUALLY FAIL-- BUT NOT SOON AS ONE YEAR. SO-CHECK TO SEE IF THE WATER IS COMING DOWN THROUGH THE DISPOSAL(WTY MAYBE) OR DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF THE DISPOSAL(NOT WTY?--INSTALLATION PROBLEM?). GET MODEL NO, SER NO AND BRAND. CHECK THE INTERNET AND DETERMINE WTY. CALL INSTALLER AND SEE WHAT HE CAN/WILL DO ABOUT IT. IF YOU INSTALL LIKE-FOR-LIKE THEY AREN'T VERY DIFFICULT TO REPLACE SINCE YOU DON'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE SINK DRAIN FLANGE OR ANY PLUMBING. JUST DON'T FORGET TO KNOCK THE PLUG OUT OF THE DISH WASHER CONNECTOR-EVERY ONE FORGETS TO DO IT AND ENDS UP CALLING IN A SERVICE CALL ON THE DISH WASHER A WEEK LATER BECAUSE THE DW IS FULL OF DIRTY WATER. I WOULD NOT PAY MORE THAN 75 TO 100 DOLLARS FOR A NEW 1/2HP DISPOSAL AND I'D PROBABLY PAY LESS. WHEN THEY GO BAD YOU WILL NOT REPAIR IT BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT WAIT FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN WHILE THERE IS A GAPING HOLE IN YOUR SINK. JUST TRY FINDING A PART IN STOCK FOR MOST DISPOSALS. DISPOSALS ARE THROW-AWAYS. IF YOU PAY A LOT FOR ONE YOU WILL WANT TO REPAIR IT RATHER THAN BUY A NEW ONE. SO DOES THE WTY REPLACE OR REPAIR THE DISPOSAL?

Try tightening it. This should be the only problem at this age of a unit. Tighten from the top and the bottom at the same time. Otherwise you are unable to see that you are turning the whole unit.
If that doesn't help then take the top drain piece out and put some plummbers putting under the rim of the drain sleeve and reinstall , wait for it to dry for at least 1/2 day and see if this works.
For all of the time and neck ache that I get from installing a disposal I always buy the badger III model. They last a long time and aren't overly expensive.

More than likely it is the rubber seat at the sink seal or the drain outlet. Check those first with a flashlight, do not turn on the power, If u do not see where the water is on the above items then i would replace it.
Check the specs to see what meets your need on a replacement unit.
Does your existing unit still under warranty? Call the number on the casing label and find out. It could save you some money

old Garbage Disposal was leaking from the bottom. Replaced it with the new Waste King 8000. It is also leaking. checked all the drains are not leaking. flange is not leaking. still drips from bottom of the Garbage disposal. Why is it leaking? I have used light and touch to check for leaks from other areas.

Replace the disposal, it may have rusted from the inside out., especially from the bottom. But make sure that it is leaking from the bottom. Make sure he switch is in the off position before you change it out. Buy what you can afford, a buget model will work fine. Some people say buy the top of the line, then let them pay for it, otherwise buy what you can afford. If your planning on living there for more 5 than but less than 10, then I would invest in a upscale model that will last longer.

Garbage disposals have a sealing ring where the parts screw together at the bottom. Your sealing ring is probrably either placed incorrectly or has lost the ability to seal properly. You can probrably just replace the sealing ring. You may want to use teflon plumbers tape when closing it again.

It seems unlikely that the leak is at the very bottom, but rather from the top where it attaches to the sink, causing the water to run to the bottom. Try to tighten the connection to the sink. Over an experience of over 40 years, I have that a budget model will not last very long, costing more in the long run over a top of the line mode. Good Luck!

You might repair it and it work, but then again it might not, we all know that at some point it will have to be replaced. I
would suggest you replace it now with a top of the line. As far as I am concerned they have never made one too good for me.
