New bathroom fitted recently, mixer telephone tap put on the bath. Hot tap has never rung as fast as the cold, but this morning it has gone to a trickle. No muck in tap and washer is fine. Pipe work is three quarter inch. Our combination boiler makes an odd noise when the tap is run. Basin and kitchen taps are fine, and the boiler sounds normal when they are run. Any ideas?

I have a 24x24x8 garage, walls insulated-no sheetrock. Ceiling insulated, insulated doors.

My hope is to be able to heat my garage so it is warm enough to do hobby work, and play with my children.

In Massachusetts, so the temp can get pretty low. I might need to raise the temperature by 30 or 40 deg.

I want the cost to be reasonable, for example, less than $300 preferably, unless there is a good reason or advantage where I can justify it.

I do not have natural gas and do not want a 100lb LP tank outside.

It needs to be reasonably sized, for example maybe 2'x2' max. Ideally it would be portable so in the summer I can store it somewhere else.

So far in my research I am leaning towards a Kerosene heater, due to the size, price, btu's, portability, etc. I am not sure if there are any safety or legal concerns.

Propane might work, but I believe I have to run a line to the outside even with a 20lb tank legally and safely.

Thanks so much.

My home has a 3-prong electric outlet for the range and my new stove came with a 4-prong cable. The guys at Lowes in the electric department recommended that I change the cable instead of the receptacle. So I bought a 3-prong cable...

My confusion is that the 4-prong cable has color coding (white, red, black, and green-for ground), but the 3-prong cable doesn't.

How do I connect the new 3-prong cable? I heard that the "white" cable (happens to be in the middle of the three cables in my range) has to connect with the middle of the cables in the 3-prung cable. Is that correct?

I was also told that because there is no fourth cable, to leave the grounding screw alone in the range (where the green cable used to be connected).

Any help appreciated. I need to connect this range soon or there will be no turkey for Thansgiving :-)

Thanks much!
Jose

Does anyone know how to do this? Not the regular ones, but the type that sit above a shower, and appear to be completely sealed. Do I pull the whole unit out of the ceiling, or is something supposed to come off?

p.s. I don't particularly want to know how many of anything it takes to change a lightbulb, but if you feel the need to tell me, at least make it funny.

Thanks.

My shower has started to whistle whilst it's running, sometimes quite loudly! I don't know the make of the shower, but it's one of those ones that just has two taps coming out of the wall. It's not a power shower, it just runs off the normal water supply. I have a combination boiler if that makes any difference.
The whistling noise seems to be coming from the hot tap, but I can't tell for sure. The shower also seems to slightly lose pressure when the whistling starts, but not much.
Any plumbers out there have any ideas on what's happening?

two years ago we claimed off our insurance company as tree roots had blocked our downstairs toilet, we paid £100 access. We now have another problem from the same tree roots only this one is causing the upstairs toilet to block and they want another £100 of us as they say this is a seperate claim. I can't help feeling this is unfair as this is the same trees roots and it should have been detected the first time around. What do you think?

If we are in the front room is it cheaper to have the fire on with no heating or the heating on throughout the house? We live in a small 2bed terrace with tiny radiators. The fire is more effective for us if downstairs but is it more economical?

The tube of GE Silicone II said it should cure in 24 hours. I made sure the tub was clean and dry for two nights prior to caulking. I have left the window open to help it dry but I am wondering if the humidity from the beach is slowing the drying process. It's been warm here in So. Cal as of late so I expected it to dry faster. Any tips?

i was thinking of pouring bleach in there, but that would be useless, the bleach would go down before it does anything.

i took the drain stopper out and banged that in a trash can and then was able to clean that, and used a spoon to clean some of the drain, but i'm sure there is more mold, what can i do?

I live in an apartment that is heated by very, very old radiators on the second floor of a two unit building. The room where the thermostat is stays warm so the heat keeps turning off before any of the other rooms warm up. How can I heat my WHOLE apartment without turning the thermostat to 90+ degrees?

It is a two story house (central air) and the one room upstairs gets really hot while the room next door stays really cold. It matters little that I cover the vents in the hot room and open them wide up in the cold room. How do I fix or whom do I contact? Thanks!

The bathroom is on the other side of my kitchen. I can hear water dripping in the wall under my kitchen cabinets. Does this sound like a busted pipe and would it leak under the wall in the bathroom next to it? It has gotten really bad in the past 2 days. Are there any plumbing experts out there to give a little advice? The plumbing from my big bathroom is fine. The little bathroom's sink works fine, but the toilet will not flush well. It comes all the way to the top before it slowly goes down. The water is coming in from the under the wall next to toilet. So, what do you think? Any help would be appreciated before I spend big bucks on a plumber. Thanks.

The reset button will need to be pushed every 4-12 hours (random intervals) to get the heat to kick on. It then comes up to temperature and maintains the correct temp for a random amoutn of time before needing to be reset again.. Any ideas? We just had the unit serviced! it seemed to work better before.. ..

Thanks

Someone told me that their father routinely put gasoline on a log, let it soak in, then put it in a woodstove in the house to start a fire. I think this is incredibly, unbelievably stupid, but they insist I don't know what I'm talking about. Have you ever heard of this practice?
