I tried using a pipe wrench and going counterclockwise but it is not coming off (tried the other way also). It is plastic and tiny bits are flaking off when I tried to remove. How should I get it off and is turning it counterclockwise the way to loosen it. Thanks.

A chap answered my first question - he has no name so I can't quote it. However, he seemed to know about boilers like mine, eg that its opened by a damper and is only for hot water. Could you answer this and give me more info please? My boiler has two little leaks, one small and the other tiny. It doesn't always leak but its when the fire is NOT lighting that it leaks. Ive had a close look at it and the leaks are along a seam. Is there any chance that I could get these leaks soldered or something? Since its on a join could it not be fixed? Please say yes! But only if it's the truth. Otherwise tell me the naked truth. Will there be turkey this Christmas or sausages!

We moved into a house that the hot water tank was emptied, and we aren't sure how to fill it back up. Or will it refill on it's own, somehow?

We have a Kenmore electric range, an oven. When we set the cooking temperature to a certain temperature, say 400 degrees F, if we open the oven door and the oven temperature sensor is in the upper right hand section of the oven, where should we point the digital thermometer to read this 400 degree F temperature or how should we check the calibration of that temperature setting mechanism?

Hello there people, my 6 year old refigerator stopped running this morning. It's no longer cold. All the frosts melted in the freezer compartment. I don't hear any noise coming from it. What could be the possible cause? and how may I fix it myself?

Model: Mitsubishi MR- V261GY-H (Rotary Compressor Model)
Refrigerant: R-12

One month prior to this problem. The fridge was producing a very loud noise but when i open the doors, the noise stopped. The noise came from " a small fan " visible at the back of the freezer compartment, when door opened the fan stopped spinning.

The lights inside the main fridge is still on now.

Is it out of refrigerant or it's something else? someone said it's the defrost timer (where is it located)?

Thankyou for the help.

This is what this house has: a gas heater, electric ingiter, fan (blower). This is what's happening: Thermostat controls heater system (of course). Natural gas is released, electric igniter lights gas (creates heat), blower is activated, heat is blown though venting system. Then, gas expulsion is stopped (thus ceasing HEAT), and fan continues to blow for...oh...30-45 seconds. When the burners stop making heat, and the fan continues to blow, we get chilly (not cold) air through the venting system, somewhat defeating the purpose of creating heat. (the house does become warmer, by small increments)

I have discovered tonight that the fan's inlet/intake comes from a chimney/stack/ducting leading to the roof, outside...fresh air circulation, NOT recycled air circulation.

My questions:

Shouldn't the air (blower) intake come from inside the area to be heated (creating real warmth) as opposed to getting cold air from outside?

Why was this system built this way?

I am planning to modify the blower induction to be recycled, instead of fresh air. What, if any, danger to my family and the house am i risking?

If i switch to recycled air induction, would I be violating any codes? Why is this code in place? (if this a code issue)

[The heating system is vented, other than having fresh air circulation, and the sheet metal barriers (i forget the proper word at the moment) to the A/C system (which shares the ventilation system with the heating system) are in place.]
