We have one of those short 20 something gal water heaters and there is a small hole on the top(came that way) that you can see the insulation through. Well my cat just peed on top of the water heater and it went in that hole and shorted something out. What is up there electrically that blew and made a loud POP sound? Will the heater work when everything dries out?

It runs for a few seconds and then stops then it does it again a few minutes later. I replaced the Fill valve. I have a Fluidmaster fill valve 400A. I shut the water off at the valve but it turns itself back on. and starts making the same noise and running. It is wasting water and very annoying.

There was rain damage during a storm. The roof came off. We replaced the roof but the inside wood is hard to reach. We can spray bleach to try to kill the mold but we cannot wipe it down. I am also worried about the wood floors and wonder if I should be concerned about anything in between the floor/ceiling.

Several skylights in my contemporary house in New England leaked last winter after major snow storms. I asked a local roofer to repair them, and he told me that he would have to reshingle the entire roof, at a cost of $8,000. Is this right? Isn't there an easier and less costly way to resolve this problem? Lee in Boston

my cat either clawed it or bit it while chasing the bedspread...she thinks the pattern is moving or something. It has to be a small pin-sized hole and I cannot find it. It's losing air gradually.

remove water-based paint from tile?
Thinner does not work because it is water-based.
Anybody had this problem before and successfully accomplished the removal of paint?
I would appreciate honest/serious answers please.

I have a Janitrol Goodman GDPS100-3 (1990). The pilot light stays lit, the flames come on, then the flames go out - then I hear the ignitor. This happens over and over. Flames out, ignition, flames, flames out, ignition, flame. So I change the thermocouple, I notice there is no flame sensor. What can I do to fix this?

Is it time to get a new furnace?

Thanks!

I have a plastic stick-on hook that I would like to remove from the back of a masonite door. I have not been able to detach it as it is stuck on like I can't believe. I wouldn't want to damage any part of the door but wouldn't mind if it took some finish off of the part that is covered now.
Serious answers please. The hook part has broken, and I am trying to replace it. Thanks for your help.

My Boyfriend brought a town house about 6 months ago. There's a crawl space/basement that we have never been in. A couple of days ago, we decided to go down there to see what its like, and came to the horror that the whole thing was filled with 4 in of water!!! We immediately called the super and he replyed that he was aware of the situation and alerted the management company. On Monday, my boyfriend called the management company and they were unaware of the situation. I know it's probably just something like the sub pump broke, but isn’t water in the basement a big deal? Why are they taking there sweet time? And im just freaking out over nothing?
