There is this stuff they sell usually in Lowes or Home Depot (or other home improvement store and maybe even Walmart) it is a tub of stuff that you just open up and it actually absorbs the dampness from there. You can also try a de-humidifier. I dont know why the name "Damp-Rid" is coming to mind.

Is the attic outside the insulated area? Or is the insulation in the ceiling above the attic area?

If the insulation is below the attic, then there should be a way for a convection current to move through your attic and carry away any moisture. Typically this means a series of vents in the eaves that let air enter, and vents along the ridge or high in the gable ends for it to leave. The heat escaping from the house carries the moisture up and out through the high vents.

If the insulation is above the attic, then you need either a dehumidifier, or else a warm air run into the attic, and a cold air return run.

You need a dehumidifier - and get the insulation checked and the roof. You may have a small leak some where. The insulation could be wet, all kinds of things. But if you get a dehumidifier, it will suck out the dampness - remember to check it often, the tray at the bottom fills fast if the room is really damp. This must be killing your heating bill, glad it isn't mine. Good Luck...

Get a dehumidifier. Funny, I always think of basements as damp and attics as very dry.
