The aerator is the part that unscrews from the end of the spigot. It's purpose is to add air to the water as it comes out. The problem you are talking about is either a bad "seat" or worn out washers. If your faucet is new and you still have the receipt take it back and get a replacement. If it isn't new, shut the water off at the supply valve(s) (usually under the sink) and unscrew the cold water side. Take it to a hardware store and ask for a faucet repair kit, they can find the right one and show you how to replace it. Get one for the hot water too, if one is leaking the other isn't to far behind. If it still leaks after a new washer kit the "seat" is probably bad and it may be time to get a new faucet. Good luck.

While washerless faucets do not have washers they do have cartridges. Find what brand faucet you have and get a replacement cartridge at Home Depot. They can tell you have to remove and replace.

If your faucet has cartridges, sometimes just
tightening it down does it. Sometimes it's the
"O" rings. Buy a rebuild kit for your type or buy
a new cartidge.

...and then there are the ceramic type. My bathroom sink has those quarter turn old fashoined type handle assemblies. Again, find the maker and replace the core.
