This is for packaging foodstuffs. Need a floor that can be washed down. I don't know what restaurants use, but there must be some special product/material? And for the walls - use a special paint? plastic panels? Thanks for your help.

Industrial kitchens use stainless steel for counter tops and backsplashes. Seamless flooring like Pirelli is durable, easily cleaned, non-slip and hygenic http://rubberflooring.ca/pirelli-flooring.htm
Any seamed material - like grout between tiles can harbor bacteria unless close attention is paid to cleaning.
Floor drainage makes cleanup much, much easier - well worth investing in if you can afford it.

i think you'll get the best results from using ceramic tile. use the thick porcelain ceramic for the floor (8x8 in. is best cuz 12x12 could crack over time) and you can use a thinner ceramic tile on the walls (6x6 or 8x8). if you go about 3 feet up the wall that should suffice. if you have a drain in the floor, you can even hose the whole area down when neccessary, which you cant do with lino. above the tile on the wall, use a high gloss enamel, mildew and water resistant paint. this will all take a bit of time and cash, but you should get years and years of trouble free service out of it.

You will need a non-porous floor tile and epoxy grout. As for the walls, you will need to have a wainscott of either vinyl wall protection by korogard, or you can use a non porous wall tile (ceramic glazed wall tile by daltile would work) that can be easily cleaned. Also an epoxy grout because it is used in places with water. You will need special ceiling grid and lighting that is efficient, like fluorescent lighting, and you will need to have acrylic lenses on the light fixtures so that bugs, dust and other stuff doesnt fall down on the food surfaces. Kitchen equipment is typically stainless steel but can also be copper.

good luck with your restaurant

Panels will have seams that can trap bacteria. You need something seamless, like a big sheet of formica or stainless steel.

Check with your county or city inspector. There are certain requirements for food process, cooking etc. Get it in writing and follow the codes.
