I've tried locating it, but can't. My furnace is 29 years old and the pilot is about 1 inch long on both sides of the burner. Is there a cap I have to remove to get to the adjustment screw? If there is a cap where is it on the unit?

I've never known a gas furnace to have an adjustable pilot flame--and I'm not sure why you would want to adjust it? The flame has to keep the thermocouple hot for the unit to run, if you reduce the flame you might deactivate the thermocouple, and make the flame more prone to blowing out?

the previous answer about the lg screw head is more than likely for the pressure regulator and should NOT be adjusted, more than likely your pilot is NOT adjustable but may just be dirty,,you should call a professional

I've lit pilots several times and have never seen a ajusting screw. Basicly its at the mercy of the gas pressure.,

My hubby has to go down in the cellar to adjust the pilot light. Ours is very old.At least 40 yrs. But, yours may be like it. No harm in looking.
