I'm just wondering if there is a way to get a cheaper version of a waste overflow drain for a clawfoot tub. Could I buy a pvc one? How would I measure the tub to know what to buy? I don't need it to be pretty. Its not going to show.

With the temperature dropping, and a wooded area that has been cleared behind our house, our fears have just been confirmed...mice.
The first night I saw one I rushed out and bought the conventional spring loaded trap and nailed one on the first try. A couple of nights later, while my wife and I sat comfortably on our sofa, another one ran across the floor.
Now I'm playing Tom and Jerry with them (at least one that I know of). I've tried both peanut butter and cheese. This morning I checked the trap and the mouse had eaten the cheese around the metal hook that is supposed to set off the trap...like he knew what NOT to touch.
I think I'm dealing with a wiley veteran mouse here...any advice other than calling Orkin?

my washer is draining while it's filling, and the repair man said that it's the length of the drain pipe that's the problem.. he said that the drain isn't high enough and isn't creating a vaccum to keep the water in the tub .. now, I've had it hooked up for a month and it's been working fine. If the drain lenght is the problem, wouldn't it have been not working from the start?

The bath room is about 6x12. There was titlng place half way up the walls(the floor was not done. The rest of the walls were painted by the contractors), a new toilet, a new bathtub with sliding glass doors, a messager head for the shower, a new cabinet with 4 lights with it, a fan in the bathroom with a way for air to ciruclate out(with a light attached to the fan, a towel rack, a metal toilet paper dispencer and a metal robe hook placed on the bathroom door. That what was done. I do realise that it is difficult to estimated when there are other factors un-answered, but please give me a ball park estimate. I believe the current contractors are charging way too much money for a relativly simple project.

I've tried normal superglue (Isocyanacrylate) to stick together what I call fatty plastics; the kind of plastic that feels glossy/slick; but with little success.

I read years ago that there is a different type of glue for this. any ideas what it's called, and maybe where I can buy it (mail order/ or in Central London).

Thank you.

My apartment was built in 1952 and today they are replacing the furnace. Is there any chance that there could be asbestos exposed in the removal of the old furnace? When (what year) did asbestos become prohibited in the US? I live in Ohio if that helps...

I have a long drive way, about 30' long, and about 15' wide. I am a first time homeowner, and I am unsure of what size snowblower I will need, I dont want to get stuck with a snowblower that is too small for the job, and I dont want to get a HUGE snowblower that will be overkill. I live in an area that gets on average, anywhere from 6'-30' of snow per season. Can anyone help?

Dilemmas: I wish I could afford the blue jean stuff but at $1.00 a sq. foot for R13, I'd have to double the amount for good attic insulation right? I don't want to mess with cellulose ,so I guess that leaves fiberglass. What's the best brand/type? Any other options? Thank you!!!!

I took my old coffeemaker back yesterday because it was making that kind of popping noise and I bought a different one. This one is doing the same thing and just as bad. If its not the coffeemaker could it be something to do with the wall plug-in?
