I'm just wondering if there is a way to get a cheaper version of a waste overflow drain for a clawfoot tub. Could I buy a pvc one? How would I measure the tub to know what to buy? I don't need it to be pretty. Its not going to show.

They sell kits at True Value hardware stores.... Take the old one off and show them...

BTW.... If you have young kids and the glaze is worn off the tub you should check it for leachable lead. It the old tubs there was lead in the glaze and porcelain.. If the glaze is intact then no problem.

But if you can wipe your hand on the dry tub and it comes back white you should check it. You can do this with a "Lead Check" test

If you want more help with this drop me a note. plehne@earthlink.net.

And NO! Iam not selling anything. I wrote a book about lead and its free also.
