The fan is 5 years old and the place I bought it does not sell it anymore

go to where you bought it and get the owners manule look up the part you need and their phone number. call them and order another

If this is a ceiling fan, universal hand held and wall switch remotes are available at home improvement and ceiling fan retailers.
