Our backyard slopes toward our house right now. And our home is lower than the road and ally. There is an ally entrance to our backyard. I'm concerned that a good, long rain storm will bring water down the ally and into my yard. What are some possible landscape solutions?

I got a lemon tree thorn stuck in my hand, and pulled it out, and it is unreasonably sore for such a small thorn. My hand has been swollen and sore for two days now. There does not seem to be any infection - hence I am wondering whether there is poison in lemon tree thorns.

I found a strange shrub in my garden today. The leaves look like ivy, but are shinier and a lighter green, and it has small white blossoms and dark purple berries that look frightfully much like belladonna.
What is it?

we are moving to a new house with 5 acres (a lot of it is woods) we have copper heads and black snakes (im sure more but these are the most common). i live in north carolina. we went there today and there was 5 wild turkeys and 2 deer in my yard while we were there so im sure there are lots of snakes lurking around. i want to know how to keep them away. i have 4 children and dont want them to get bit. do mothballs keep them away as i heard they do? any suggestions on how to keep snakes away other then the basics of keeping trash cleared and grass cut.

My Christmas cactus appears to be wilting and turning purple/ reddish at the ends of it. There aren't the flower, the green plant itself is turning purplish at the ends. It is also very thin too. The "leaves/ branches" are very very flat.

I repotted it but it's still all wilty

There are few flys around it too

any suggestions?

it kinda old...a few years....so is it at the end of its lifespan?

So i would love to start this plant - with out buying one - i have a green seed pod they say should be left on plant until brown - its already removed - and i cut a few feet of vine - one from the wooden or hardened end on the vine and one from a fresher greener part of the vine - does anyone know how i can start my own plant - is the pod just a waste to mess with now that it was pulled early ? can i put the vines in water to sprout roots like an elephant ear ? Do i put it directly in soil and hope for the best ? Please Help - I love this vine and it would be wonderful for the back of my mothers humming bird garden - i know its hard to control but the back drop is nothing but woods -

I recently got some grape hyacinth, snowdrop, and crocus bulbs for my garden. What's the best planting time for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan? Also, should any of the bulbs be planted sooner or later than the other bulbs? Any help is appreciated :)

My dog has killed some of the plants in my backyard - what would be good to replace them with? I'm particularly interested in flowering plants, if that's possible.
