Three years ago me and my mom bought just small house plants at Wal-Mart, ferns in fact, my mom threw hers away after the season was over, but I have had mine for three years now and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Right now it is in a 20" inch pot or about two feet by two feet. I water it every couple of days and it stays in the same spot everyday, in which this spot gets sun part of the day and shade the other part of the day.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with my fern? It is so big that it looks awkward just sitting in my front landscaping and there really is no good place to put it. I do not want to kill it or throw it away being this is the only plant I have ever seemed to keep alive. During the winter time I have always brought it in the garage and covered it up and not watered it a drop, then I bring it back out in the spring. I have replanted it once a year and we just moved so it changed the space it was in. Any advice?

We just bought this house a few months ago, this is our first house so we are very uneducated about proper maintenance and care of a home, we are learning as we go.

Either way, as we have been doing updates and maintenance on the house we have noticed a low area in our backyard. There is a tree and where the tree is the land away from it kind of slopes down. We just recently had a lot of rain and this low area filled with water to make a muddy area. It was shallow but deep enough to cover your shoe I would imagine, I did not go into it.

Anyway, we are beginning to get worried that we may have a sinkhole and do not know what to do from here, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Until we find out more information we have been avoiding the backyard except to mow and prune bushes.

I live on the edge of a forest and use a leaf blower to blow dead oak leaves off my cleared land and back to the edge of the forest. Raking them up and trashing them would be a constant, herculean task in which I am not willing to engage. So at the back of my property on the edge of the forest is a pile of leaves 3-4 inches deep. I water them to keep them damp and rotting, but is there any way to accelerate the process? If I were to spread an enzyme on them, like that used in septic tanks for instance, would that make them rot faster? Anyone have any other suggestions?

I'm pretty naive in the subject, except for the fact that Easter lilies are my favorite. Wait, I mean Casablanca. Actually, I just love white strong scented lilies! : )

I bought a small Juvenile (A year or so at most with about 1 foot in height and 1.5 feet in width in some places) Rosemary Plant from the Butte College Horticulture club. It is, however, acting very Ivy-like and growing in odd directions, and I'd like to Clip off some of it's extenions and clean it up a bit. I want to know if clipping it down a bit would send it into shock and ultimately kill it.

Is there a botonist out there that knows more than the basics on rosemary?

I have a huge population of moles in my yard. The yard is riddled with dozens of mole hills and tunnels. It makes planting flowers a total waste of time and energy. I've tried searching the net for ways of getting rid of them, but am finding mostly conflicting information (such as whether moth balls really work or not).

Are there any natural ways of driving the moles elsewhere that have worked for you, not wives' tales but actual tried-and-true solutions? I'd rather not use chemicals. Are there any particular plants that moles find unappetizing, for example?

Trying to clear my very overgrown garden, got down to soil level in the borders and when i try to fork or hoe ground loads of roots keeping coming up and not wanting to budge. Think roots may be grass roots or something similar but they are really long and hard to shift. Also my soil is full of stones and plaster and building rubble, anyone have an idea what the best way would be to clear this to be able to plant in borders eventually.

We are looking to install a 6 foot privacy hedge in our backyard, as we back to a busy city road. The evergreens we use will have to must thrive in open, sunny areas, and be able to withstand the winters. It will need to span a width of 100 feet, and be dense enough to discourage our young children from going through them and running out in the road. So far, our local nurseries have suggested Upright Junipers. Is this the best tree? Also, what should the spacing be to create this thick, wall-like hedge? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, as we are coming to the end of the evergreen planting season (Sept 15 should be the absolute latest we plant).
