I recently bought a peace lily. I have it in bright(ish), indirect sunlight and I'm attempting to keep the soil moist. However, I just looked and found out that the pot the plant is in has no holes on the bottom. My question is... Should I repot this plant into another, same-sized pot with holes on the bottom? Can I simply poke holes in the bottom of this pot and get away with it? I don't want to traumatize the plant by repotting if I don't need to, but I don't want it to rot, either. Help!

The home was badly vandalized when I found it and I got most of the deposit knocked of by replacing much of the drywall and painting it myself. All the upstairs windows were broken and the banister/railing was ripped out. He said he would replace them once I fixed the walls. Well, he just hired a guy to install cheap storm windows. Not real windows at all. They are just nailed to the outside window frames and offer almost no insulation. And they are already falling apart after a year. And he never replaced the banister/railing, so I just have a gaping hole in my floor just waiting for me to fall and break my neck. There are many other horrific problems and he will do nothing. I even I thought of calling the local housing inspector, but I'm afraid they might condemn the house or something. It's a gorgeous house with a huge yard and we would hate to lose it, but it's impossible to heat when it gets down to 10 below! It's quite a canundrum and he has us bent over a barrel and he knows it

How much did your Koi Pond cost you? I'm looking at building a roughly 2,000 gallon Koi pond, probably a bit smaller though.

I have two Japanese Iris clusters I planted for the first time this season. Bloomed nicely... After the blooms passed the plant produced what look like bulbs right underneath where the bloom was...they are still green as of right now. Are these bulbs or seed pods ? If so, whats the right way to remove them and prepare for replanting ?

It has little berries about 1/2 inch in diameter. It has a pinkish red skin with white meat on the inside. Smells kind of like an apple but the berries(fruit) are really small. In the early spring it has beautiful pink blossoms. Are these edible?

I squished a Vine Weevil yesterday and have spent a sleepless night worrying about my plants. Can anyone reccomend a pesticide (sorry to all those organic gardeners but Im desperate) that will zap the little beggars before they decimate my babys ! Yes, I know its the larvae that do the damage and that nematodes are best but I need to chemically obliterate these nasty things b4 they even start.

This might sound dumb, but I get home late from work and would like to find out about a noiseless way to mow the lawn without disturbing my neighbours.

My backyard is 9 x 18... thanks!

It might not be native. It is one of only a couple of such plants growing next to the canal, near my village in Leicestershire, England.

I'm laying sod this weekend, are soak hoses (porous underground hoses) a good idea vs watering on the surface? I'm looking for a cheap alternative to putting in a sprinkler system, I'm not going to be on this property much longer so I'm not looking to spend a fortune. Thanks!

Hubby got a beautiful jade plant for $3. It's in the original 4" plastic nursery container and it's about 2' tall. It needs replanting, but he seems to think there is a special way it has to be done. Does anyone have special knowledge about jade? Thanks.

I planted my carrot seeds and was pretty amazed when most of them grew. I separated them as best I could, although probably not well enough, as i seem to have clusters of 3 or so carrots growing together. Some are on their onw, but all seem to have the same problem. They from the top appear to be really big carrots, I can see big orange tops, but they are only a couple of inches long, they look quite strange.
Are they just not ready yet, or have I managed to overlook something?

I was approached this weekend about taking courses and doing voluneer work in order to become a Master Gardener. I've been thinking about it and just may do it because the voluneer work part sounds like fun and it would be a great way to learn more about gardening. I was just wondering if anyone else was considering becomming a Master Gardener as well. I would also like to hear from already certified Master Gardeners about their experiences while getting certified. What were the courses like and did you have to do volunteer work as well?

Our septic guy said they are too close to my system (tank, lift station and pipe that shoots out to the field). I know out neighbor likes these trees, that are volunteers from another tree nearby. Should I ask him if we can cut them down? Will the roots really effect my system that much? They are just a little taller than my tri-level house right now - about 20-25' maybe? With all the acorn that have fallen this year, I'm sure more will start growing soon. I'll have to sneak out and pull the new ones that he lets grow every year! I like trees too but I like a working septic system better! What if I ask him to cut them down and he refuses and my septic system fails because of it?

My septic field is next to this tree and the septic guy said it should really be cut down so it's roots don't damage my septic field. I hate to kill this beautiful tree! Is it possible to have a nursery come get it and move it? Can I sell it to a nursery? I even thought of it being a nice town-Christmas tree but then that would mean killing it......but I might have no choice? I actually have 2 of them but the other might be a safe distance away from the field... We didn't plant it there (former owners did) and I guess they weren't thinking! What should I do?
