I squished a Vine Weevil yesterday and have spent a sleepless night worrying about my plants. Can anyone reccomend a pesticide (sorry to all those organic gardeners but Im desperate) that will zap the little beggars before they decimate my babys ! Yes, I know its the larvae that do the damage and that nematodes are best but I need to chemically obliterate these nasty things b4 they even start.

Now is the best time of year to blast the evil little grubs.
If you are in the UK then Bayer make Provado Vine Weevil Killer 2 that you water onto the soil in the pots. The grubs are mostly in pots as it is easier for them to move about in compost than garden soil.
I would wage war on the adults as well, the best way is to stand guard over your susceptible plants in the early evening and kill any that you see.
This web page will tell you lots more on how to control them.
Good luck and kill a few for me!!

Use Armillatox, which is a natural product and is very effective against vine weevil. Armillatox can be bought at any good garden centre or B&Q. Vine weevil insectasides usualy tend to be on the expensive side and you don't get much in the bottle.

Well, I know you don't think the organic way is the way to go, but a 32oz spray bottle with 1/4 dish soap, 1/4 cooking oil, and water works wonders. Have you tried it? Just make sure you spray the whole plant including the tops and bottoms of leaves. If you really want to add something then add some Neem oil to the mix. Spray very early in the morning.
Good Luck

Hi - What you need is......Vine Weevil Killer! Something like the stuff at the link below. You can usually pick it up in the garden section of DIY shops and garden centres. It does tend to be a bit pricey, wherever you buy it.

Go to a HOME DEPOT and they can tell you exactly what to put on your plants to keep them safe. Sorry I can't help more, even calling one in the phone book and speaking to someone in the garden department they should be able to tell you what you need to use over the phone.
