Poison Ivy is nothing to mess around with! Make an appointment with your doc now! He/she will prescribe a steroid that will take care of it before it gets nasty. If you mean groin instead of growing, you need treat this with the utmost urgency! It will NOT go away on it's own and you will get a nasty rash which WILL get infected.

You've got good advice here for the rash and itching. About those plants....
- NEVER ever burn poison ivy or oak vines. It can cause an allergic reaction in your lungs.
- Avoid mowing or otherwise chopping up the vines.
- To eradicate these plants, pull the vines out with gloved hands (and get rid of the gloves afterwards) or have someone who is not allergic pull them. Or use a spray like Kleenup or another brush killer. I tried Roundup... the plants just LAUGHED at it. You need a brush killer, not an herbaceous plant killer. You can dip a small paintbrush in the brush killer and paint it on leaves of this plant if it's growing through plants you want to keep. Wear gloves, long sleeves, long pants, socks, shoes. Wash everything when you're done.
Good luck. This allergy is Not Fun.

It sounds like poison ivy or poison oak. Firstly, yes wash the area well. Wash all gloves, clothes and equipment CAREFULLY and SEPARATELY from everything else. Then, if you have a Walgreens or other pharmacy nearby try a product called "IVY DRY". My husband is HIGHLY allergy to poison ivy and oak and this works wonders. Spray on the ivy dry and let it air dry. Do not itch. If necessary at night wear long sleeves or pants to keep yourself from itching or spreading it to a spouse. Be careful to keep the area incredibly clean and all clothing or bedding that you come in contact with clean and away from others. Poison ivy/oak can still be contageous on materials not just through direct contact. A non-drowsy claritin might also help to keep from itching during the day and a regular benedryl at night. If you have more questions absolutely contact your doctor for the BEST advice. Best of luck and hope you feel better soon.

now you know why washing your hands after being in the garden and yard is a really good idea!... sorry....
if it's not poison ivy or oak or sumac that you got into, it could also be a reaction from a vine called Virginia Creeper.... it looks like this....

most folks are NOT allergic to it and they'll plant it as it IS a nice vine.... but the few that are allergic, like my hubby, blow up from getting into it....
I suggest the doctor... the area you're dealing with is NOT going to be at all happy for the time you're going to have this, what ever it is... a shot will hurry things along and the lotion from the doc is much better than anything you can buy at the drugstore!.... for some help, tho, there's spray gels/sprits from BandAid and other companies that will relieve the itch for a bit .... understand, now, you CANNOT scratch!!!....
whatever you find out, be sure to IDENTIFY what you got into so you don't do it again!!!...luck to ya!

Man, that sucks. You most likely got into some Poison Ivy or are having an allergic reaction to something. You can purchase some ointment made especially for poison ivy at the drug store or some caladryl will work as well. Also, it would be best to get some benedryl because it will help keep the inflammation down.
Good Luck

You could either be having an allergic reaction to the plants or it could be poison Ivy...
Try an oatmeal bath to help sooth the itching (DON'T Scratch!) if you have oozing bumps more than likely it's poison ivy... if you don't have any bumps it's possibly just a reaction that benadryl (lotion or pills also) can take care of... go on line and do a search for poison ivy see if that is the vine you pulled...

That is called poison ivy or poison oak.
Go to the drug store and get the best thing they have for it or its gonna drive you nuts.
Do NOT attack this stuff with a weed eater. It is the liquid inside that makes the rash and slicing and dicing it will lash you with layer after layer of the nasty stuff.
