Even though there may be peppers in the garden, I always have a planter on my patio with the little miniture chili peppers. they grow fast, have nice flowers on them and I can just step out back and grab a few here and there when I'm cooking. I do the same with cherry tomatoes! You can also put the peppers in a used soy sauce bottle. then fill with vinegar. and use it on salads, greens, etc. No refrigeration needed and lasts a long time. When the vinegar gets low- just add more! I keep it on the table with the salt & pepper.

I have grown MANY types of peppers in my California garden. I must always have a Bell pepper -- California Wonder is my favorite -- I usually let them turn red before I pick them (sweeter!!). I always plant some "Anaheim Chilies" for a little bit of heat and some good flavor!!
Then, my husband (who has a cast iron stomach) always insists that we plant something "HOT". We have planted "Long Red Cayenne", "Hungarian Yellow Wax", "Jalapeno", & "Pasilla" with good success.
Peppers need a long, warm growing season. Use floating row covers if you do not have enough heat.
Good Luck!!

yes, the very hot and long chili peppers, it helps drive away insects from my garden, aside from having chilli peppers always ready whenever i make kimchi.
