There are LOTS of plants for the winter. Not knowing where you are located it's hard to say, I would go to my local garden center or nursery for helpfull hints.

Kale is a decorative plant/veggie ...Cyclamen, a beautiful flowering plant...Mums...

Yes, it would help to know exactly where you live...(the flowers/plants I listed above grow well in TX winters...even when we have ice).

Not in my zone. Perennials will go dormant, but any annuals will freeze and die.
