okay they sell a product at home depot called snake away . It is said to work . You might try to lay a black piece of rope in your yard. also cut and trim your yard very low to the ground . I hope I helped . also if you have hawks around you might not have to worry too much about snakes. good luck .

What do wild turkeys and deer have to do with snakes? Look for mice - that's what the snakes are after. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Blacksnakes are a lot less dangerous than deer, and copperheads really don't live up to their reputation either, but "Populations can be reduced around human structures by removing preferred habitat such as rock piles, woodpiles, slab piles, sawdust piles and abandoned buildings. Keep grass and weeds trimmed or mowed near dwellings, barns and other buildings."

(Also notice the bit that only 308 bites have been reported in the last 10 years, with no fatalities.)

You can install a short fence around a play area for the kids - dig a trench around their play area & install a mesh screen (tighter then chicken wire, but along those lines) a few inches into the ground & a 6-8 inches above ground, then fill in the trench. The snakes & their dinner (rats & rabits) will stay out because the take the path of least resistance.

short of getting a mongoose..not much you can do...you can try the following...chickens,,,chickens are not afraid of snakes
and will attack them.

actually any large bird will do.

find a king snake..they are harmless to humans and will keep the other snakes away..by eating them..they are very territorial.

Naptha will irritate their sensors.

Teach your children to go the other way when they see one.
