What's better in poor, well-draining soil: rosemary or tarragon? I'm looking for a companion for my lavender, and since lavender grows best in what seems like abusive conditions, I want to know what would be better planted with it.

I have a small front garden with shade early morning and full sun mid morning to evening. The soil here is dry and not very fertile. We also have very strong winds a lot. I am looking for something that requires little care and looks nice. I dont want anything that will get too big/tall. I would like something with a lot of color. Be it flowers or the leaves themselves. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have purchased a property with a large garden that is full of raspberry bushes. Unfortunately I need to use some of the land for off road parking and would like to move the raspberry bushes. I am hoping to dig them up and then pot them to replant later in the year. Can any one please tell me what soil or fertilizer to use and is it possible to use the soil that they have been planted in?? Any tips and advice would be a great help. Thanks Buster.

I am wondering:
1 When is the time to visit the area to see the apple trees in bloom?
2 What kind of apples do they grow?
3 Do they grow a lot of heirloom apples now?
4 What are the most popular apples?
5 When is apple picking time?
6 Are there orchards where the public is welcome to pick apples themselves?
7 What other things are there to do in the area, so a day trip could include a couple of nice activities ...... like picking apples and something else to complement it?
8 Is there a boat trip on the Hudson that makes stops at various points, like the apple growing areas, etc.
9 Since there is a small bird perched on my shoulder asking this question, may I ask if there are any summer jobs available for the strong, hearty, healthy and willing? Thank you!!!

Thanks much

A mystery tree has sprouted near my patio. It has thorns, so I thought it might be a honey locust tree, but it doesn't have compound leaves, so that can't be it. Any thoughts about trees that would grow in Arkansas, have single leaves, and thorns?

The reason I am asking is the soil does not look like the natural soil you have in nature. It is darker and just not as dense. Just not like something you would find in nature. The bean plant seems to like it a lot, but I just was not sure if the benas are ok to eat. Anyone use the same type of "artificial" soil to grow vegetables?

Has anyone ever walked into your yard, looked around and then knocked on your door asking you how much you wanted for one of your yard decorations or cars?? I have people knocking on my door from time to time asking me how much I want for my gazebo, car, truck, or yard decorations! They all say they were driving by and seen it and would like to buy it....??They just waltz up to my door and ask how much do I want for the item as if they were asking for a price check at the store! A few years ago I had some older lady come to my house wanting to buy my plants, chairs and even my cat! LOL. Then my neighbor has encountered people stopping at her house asking the same thing. Every place I have lived I have been asked "how much". Just wondering if other people has encountered the same.
