Dragonflies don't sting or bite. In fact, they are wonderful to have in your garden. They are beneficial insects that eat mosquitoes, termites, flies, gnats, ants, aphids & more. If you are lucky enough to have them visit your yard, sit back and enjoy watching their graceful ways. If you don't have them but they do live in your area, you can attract them by installing a water feature in your yard.

Dragonflies do not normally bite or sting humans (though they will bite in order to escape, for example, if grasped by the abdomen); in fact, they are valued as a predator that helps control the populations of harmful insects, such as mosquitoes.

No, and they are quite beautiful aren't they? I have had them to come and sit on my arms and never have been stung by one. I did read that they will bite with their mandibles. They eat mosquitoes so you will see more of them in the early fall.
