In our yard there are small black colored flies that only appear to be in the morning hour hours and I want to find a natural way to get rid of them. Any advice?

Mint bushes are good to control fleas and ants as well. But be for-warned and careful where you plant them because they will seed out and spread like crazy. A better alternative would be to plant them in containers or spray your yard with a solution of 3 parts mint extract 1 part water.

Get some frogs/toads/chameleons and let them loose in your back yard. I think they'd eat them.
