Plant marigolds (calendula) either in the garden or around it. There's a certain compound or chemical in the plant that they just don't like. We live in NC and deer can be a real problem here, but we've been planting marigolds for years and they've never been an issue for us. (They go to our neighbor's garden instead lol ) Another sure-fire way is to just simply get a dog that likes to chase things. Our norwegian elkhound is just a medium-sized dog and she use to have the most fun in the world chasing any animal that had the bad luck to walk into the yard...that included squirrels, rabbits and especially deer. Some other tricks are to get a bar of soap, drill a hole in it and hang it near the plants you want to protect. Or take some human hair, wrap it in some nylon and hang it near the plants (like most wild animals, deer get spooked when they smell people). Fencing the garden is only really effective if the fence is at least six feet high. Another more pricey *but extremely effective* is to get a scarecrow that is a motion-activated sprinkler, that way whenever a deer comes into the garden they trigger it and the spray of water scares them off. You could also try chemical options like liquid fence, that's supposed to work really well, on rabbits and other animals too. Hope that helps and good luck with your garden ^_^

Where I live to have any kind of veggie garden a 6-8 ft fence is needed to keep the deer out. I also use garlic clips on plants that are in areas where the deer travel. It's a tough one! Good luck

I would suggest buying seeds or plants that are deer resistant. There's a wide variety of flowers that 1 type of say~ Marigolds deers wont touch, then there's another variety of Marigolds that deers will eat.

My suggestion overall would be to go to highcountrygardens.com
& order 1 of their free catalogs. Then, go thru it & mark the types of flowers that r deer resistant. Make a list or take the catalog w/ U to a nursery or store ie~WalMart or Home Depot & see what they have to offer then Reference between the 2.
This way, by get'g the catalog & look'g thru it first, It'll save U time & money & a trip to the store & not buying anything that the deer will eat.

I live in Arizona & dont live close very close to Phoenix anymore. So this is how I do it. Saves me gas & money & headache of havin to load my 2 lil'est, for a extra trip I didnt need to do.

Without a fence their is not much of a way , some people say that you can go to a barber shop or beauty salon and get some of the hair they sweep up in the floor and put it around your garden once a month and they say a deer will not get no where around it Might be worth a try!

You can buy a product called "Plot Saver" . Hunters use it to plant food plots for the deer, They use plot saver in the early plant stages so the deer dont eat it to the ground before it matures. Or you could try hanging bars of bath soap in your garden, i've heard it works okay.

i think you have been fortunate so some distance. The presence of your canines will discourage different animals to three volume, yet maximum of them do their grimy paintings at nighttime, so except your canines are accessible at middle of the night at 2 am, faster or later those animals are going to get at your vegetables. in case you have deer around, they each and every so often do no longer consume issues extra suitable than as quickly as a season, yet that must be whilst the stuff is in a position to %.. I as quickly as grew beans in my front backyard and replaced into congratulating myself in the direction of the tip of the season, whilst one morning I got here out and all the leaves have been long gone from the bean flowers, and that i propose all of them. in basic terms stalks and beans left. I quite have 2 canines and no fencing. The deer nibble on issues right here and there yet i've got no vegetables planted. They quite come for the period of the backyard below they did as quickly as I first lived right here, yet they are actually not long gone. I in no way see stay rabbits yet my cat brings one in now and then, so i comprehend they are accessible too.

Deer are skidish animals, I would put up some whirly ornaments or chimes.
