Is this the kind of plant that need to be Placed far away from the foundation of the house, to keep the roots from cracking the foundation? Or is it ok to plant it close to the house, since its roots aren't thick and go down instead of out? If I do need to plant it away from the house, how close is the closest i can get and still be safe? Please help if you can.

I was given a violet cutting--a leaf and stem. It has been potted for several months. The leaf looks vibrant but I am not getting any new growth. How long does it take before new growth occurs?

Foolishly, I let the chives go to seed. Now they are coming up all over. I have been digging the little bulbs, but there are thousands of the little things. I can't use pesticides. It would be easier to keep cutting them off above ground, at least in the grassy area, as it gets mowed every week, but don't know if that will stop those little bulbs from sending up new shoots. Do I just need to keep digging?

I have recently bought Japanese Maples from Home Depot for $40 each. I planted them in pots and in full sun. Any advice on how they will do/maintanence? I have green and red. I also have some in partial shade. I reside in Los Angeles and will get very hot in the summer. Also, anyone know why they would be so cheap at HD granted they can sell for up to $200 at places like Armstrong for the same size (5 gallon)??

I am especially interested in English cucumbers and other kinds of cucumbers that you find delicious.

In addition, do you grow lettuces ..... especially the little ones people are using.

Cresses?

And herbal flowers?

Thank you very much!

My boyfriend gave me a late Valentine's present this weekend since he was away at school until then. He included two long stemmed red roses with it, and i would like to save them if i can, because I think this guy is the one. It would be a special memory from our first Valentine's together. Does anyone know how to keep it without it falling apart? is pressing in a book the best way, or ive heard something about hanging it upside down. Hurry please! i want to do it b4 they lose their color!

My dad is on a "let's make the yard pretty" kick, and a koi pond has weedled it's way into the picture. Problem is that we have NO idea of even where to start.

Should we get one f those plastic ponds or a pond liner? How big would it need to be to support half a dozen koi?

What do we need to know before we really get started?

And, a big important question, where do quality koi come from? I don't THINK the petstore would have them, and if hey did I deffinantly don't think they'd be very healthy.
