I have tried everything and the only thing that will turn them off is to turn off the well pump. they are on timers. what could the problem be?

The timer could be a problem, unplug it to see if it shuts off. If that doesn't work then problem is, something is stuck in the valve. Open the valve up, it is easy (there are only 3 parts in there). It is either held in by screw or bolts, or you screw the entire lid off. If you have to remove the solenoid (the cylinder with the 2 wires) make sure you don't lose the spring or the plunger. Just make sure that nothing else gets in there. Clean out any debris. If that does not work, rebuild the valve. You can get one at your local sprinkler supply house for $20 - $25.

The timer for that zone or the valve connected to the timer for that zone is defective. Check to see if the timer is changing like the other timers and if it is, it is probably a defective valve. If it isn't it is probably the timer.

sounds like the sprinkler head is clogged.
