I have a stump I think is a redwood that I need to remove completely as I need to put a dry well in the same spot. How deep do redwood stumps go? Do they have taproots? So far I have not been able to grind it out; it's too deep for that.

I'm looking at scott's stuff and don't even see a pre-emergant. Plus 2 looks like a post, so what do you suggest for a lawn pre-emergant?

I have a penchant for letting random plants grow in my yard. I always surprise by what comes up. This year I have a mystery plant. Can anyone ID this?

I live in Vegas. This plant started growing in June and just started to put out blooms. There is a link to my yahoo photos page so you can see pictures.

Thanks!

The garden designer planted festuca and flax along with a few small non invasive plants. This was done on a clean dirt palate. He didn't prepare the soil only removed what was there and watered and placed the new plants in.I want to put rocks or bark around as a cover he told me not to do this. Now 2months later there are weeds growing around the flax and festuca. What can I do. Would small pebbles or bark look good and prevent weeds from reappearing after I pull them? thanks

These hedges are about 300' long. I'd like to keep them but they are really alot to take care of. However if I cut them back to about 3' high in stead of the 7-8' height they are now, I could manage them. By cutting them back so much, I don't know if they will die or come back. Anyone know?

I grew tomatillo in my garden this year and when I harvested them and took the outer skin off, they were purple. Is this normal?

We have a 20' or hight Colorado Blue Spruce and we would like to try to gather some cones/seeds and attempt to grow a few more trees. I would like to line my parents driveway with rows of trees on either side. They have a long mountain driveway so buying the trees would cost a small fortune. Thanks for your help.

Mimosa tree. Large, takes up front yard. Has green splotches on it (a fungus I think) and big gashes.
