I grew tomatillo in my garden this year and when I harvested them and took the outer skin off, they were purple. Is this normal?

In tomatillos, purple is a variety, just like orange, green, purple or red tomatoes.

There is a tomato variety often called cherokee tomatoes that have a purplish tint. Some people swear it is the best tomatoes they have ever tasted. Maybe yours is that variety?

Disease can also cause tomatoes to turn into different colors.
1.Purple leaves:
Leaves with purple veins and overall purplish tint. Early season, cool temperatures. No Insects present REASON-
Phosphorus deficiency

2.Leaflets roll upward and develop a purplish color, especially along the veins REASON--Curly top virus

Tomatillos come usually in the green variety. The purple ones are not offered by the nurseries and garden stores because not many people ask for them.
