Because I am older (64+), I have given up using anything gas...they are just too heavy....especially weed eaters. I just use cords for everything and it gets done, plus you don't have to worry about the silly mixture that goes into the gas one.

Environmentally, the electric is better ( I own a Black and decker Electric model). The only drawbacks are the extension cords and the lack of power...overall, my leaf blower does the job.

A rake is better.
However between gas and electric:
- gas pollutes the air
- electricity does not
PS:
Depends on where you live re electricity & polution... if your electricity is hydro powered there is no pollution.
However, if it is fossil fuel generated - then yes you are right it also pollutes.
So I go back to the rake or leave them to mulch

Gas does have more power but is much heavier to carry (having to carry the fuel too) but I think that an electric works well enough to get most jobs done.

I had to make that decision.. and finally opted for the electric.. less noise and how many times have I (previously) found myself pulling and pulling to get the darned thing started.. the problem iwth the electric is the cord but I have learned to deal with it.

Depends on size of lawn/number of trees.
I have over an acre here, so no cord is long enough. I also have LOTS of trees, so gas is more efficient.

i would say gas if not just for the convienance of not dragging around a cord.with gas you have more power and options as to horsepower.
