I do know the problem lies with the flapper. It goes down almost immediately after you push the handle. I tried adding more water to the tank, but that didn't work. The flapper should stay up long enough to allow the toilet to flush. I have well water. How can I get the flapper to stay up long enough? Would a new one work?

I can buy the pre cut assembly stringers at Home Depot & Lowe's but can't seem to find the pre cut assembly for handrails. The steps are 33" high that came with mobile home. I need to upgrade to 36" to at least reach the bottom of the trailer.

I'm trying to move some large pieces of furniture to my upper level of my home. But I need to remove an oak banister in order to get some pieces up a landing. In order for me to do this I have to remove the banister. But I don't want to destroy it because I would like to have it put back in the same place. Is there a way I can do this without destroying it and will it be sturdy enough if it is reinstalled?

A friend of mine (who watches alot of DIY) says there is a way but when you reinstall it it won't be as sturdy, even if it's professionally done.

So I'm wondering if its worth doing it just to get a some furniture upstairs.

My home was built by one of those mass production home builders so I'm guessing most of them install oak rails/banisters pretty much the same way.

Any advice would help. Thanks!!!

I have several areas I need to put access panels in to be able to access cable splitter, gas switch for fireplace, water knob for refrigerator, and hot/cold water knobs, etc.

I'm in the process of finishing my basement and the access panels are on a slope (angle) in the ceiling. I was thinking about using vent openings to access these (you know, the vents that are used for the ac/heat to rooms) I don't believe it would look bad cosmetically speaking, but would like to know if there was a better solution or a better way to access these knobs.

Any help would be great. Thanks

I have a couple of pieces. One is a family heirloom dinning room table that is discolored but originally cherry. The others are a light color and I'd like to stain them to a dark cherry as well. How do you get started? Any tips, experience and advice is welcome. I've never done this before. Although I do know for the table I need to sand it first and I have a sander and have used it before.

I've drilled a hole in the wall where I am installing a new light fixture, and pulled out the wiring from the outlet below, but there is a stud between the wiring and the new hole. What's the easiest way to send the wire to the new location? I don't have access to the wall in front of the stud and don't want to tear up the wall.
