Craft stores like Michaels sell a simple little product called "Rub N Buff". It comes in many different finishes. Choose one several shades darker than your current finish and work it into the lock. When it dries, buff it to get a nice shine in it.

if it's brass, you could try dipping it in ammonia to discolor it. not sure but ketchup might discolor it too. put it in an empty tobacco can with some heavy bolts & shake the $hit out of it. hammer it with a hammer a few times. file off any sharp edges

I dabble in bronze a bit. An old fellow told me to put soldering flux on new bronze, then take a torch and heat it up, let set, and it would turn a greenish shade, I tried, and it worked. maybe something you could try,

Rub dirt into it, CAREFULLY use a wire-type weedwhacker on it to distress it, dent it a few times with the pein of a hammer.

Paint it with Miuretic-acid. wait two minutes and wash it off. Then hold it in the fire for one minute, then put in water. then spray with WD40. DON"T DO THIS IF IT IS BRASS!
