I have white plastic electricity double sockets in my living room. I wanted to replace these with more modern looking chrome faceplates. Are these all a standard size, so that I can simply get an electrician to whip off the old plastic ones, and replace with the new chrome ones, while still using the existing backplates?
Also, given the fronts are metal, am I running too much risk that the earthing might fail at some point in the future, and should stick with the plastic?

Rather not pay for an electrician unless I know it needs doing.

Parts of the floors have been varnished and parts have never been varnished. Is there any product I could buy that would prevent me the trouble of sanding and varnishing?

I need a mitre saw for some do-it-yourself work around the house like pergo, baseboard, extra. I'm considering a 10-inch single bevel mitre saw by DeWalt or Hitachi. Any thoughts?

The seams are lined up great, and whenever I use tape with the mud, it ends up looking really sloppy no matter how careful I am sanding and mudding. The couple times I didn't use tape, it looks great, but my husband has a cow.
