Blade Length:
The proper size Saw blade for a Delta 14" Bandsaw Without Riser Block, is 93 1/2", not 14", or 28". The 14" refers, depending on who you ask, to either the diameter of the Wheels, or the widest piece of wood you can rip between the blade and the vertical support. If your saw has a riser block to increase the maximum resaw capacity you will need a Blade that is 2x the height of the riser block +93 1/2".

Blade width:
For Resawing use the widest blade that will fit in your saw, for a 14" band saw that will be 1/2 - 3/4"

For small radius turns use a narrow blade, generally 1/8" is the smallest for a 14" saw.

Tooth count:
For speed, this will sound counter-intuitive, use fewer teeth, 3 TPI Skip tooth pattern

For Smoothness use more teeth, up to 12 TPI for wood working

My standard blade that I keep on my bandsaw for most use is a 1/2" wide 4TPI skip tooth timber-wolf brand low tension blade. I don't cut many curves so it is narrow enough for most of my cuts, and it find that cuts with blades much finer that 4 TPI do not reduce my sanding time enough to merit the smoother cut.

To maximize the life of your new blade make sure that you follow the manufacturers directions about setting the proper blade tension, then whenever you are finished using the saw for more than an hour, detension the blade. Doing this will lead to smoother cuts, longer blade life, longer bearing life and less vibration while the saw is running. When I detension my blade I always detension it exactly the same number of revolutions (7) so that I know when I step up to the saw that I need to tension it 7 revolutions.

A 14" bandsaw is named because it is 14" from the blade to the machine upright. Therefore you could cut a board 14" in from the edge. It is this one answer, it doesn t depend on who you are asking. Of course unless they are an idiot and feel they need to give incorrect information. Typically 14" bandsaws use 93 1/2" blades.

I would think both would fit but I would go with the 59-1/4". The larger diameter may take all the tightening ability out of the adjustment knob.
