i have a haitchi duel compound slide mitre.i like it for several reasons..the slide is under the saw and makes reaching around to
set the beval much eaiser.i dont like the dewalts because the slide is on top and the moter is bulky..and dewalt is now made in mexico.consumers reports gave the hatichi 5 stars out of 5,,dewalt i think got 3.5 stars.im a trim carpenter and i really like it..the worst feature is changing the blade,,a royal pain,,it almost takes 2 people to do it!!it all depends on you and how much your going to use it..you can get a delta chop saw for about 100.00.if you just a weekend end warrior..also look at some pawn shops, you can get some great deals,,and they will always take less than there asking,,good luck shops

having worked in the trades for 7 years i suggest buying NOTHING from makita. DeWalt is the best, Milwaukee makes great box saws and sawzaws, porter cable is a good home DIY brand if you are a little sticker shocked by the DeWalt just don't buy any of their drills. Hitachi makes a decent product and I recently got a ryobi cordless drill and am very impressed with the quality and power.

They are both great. A Hitachi is a very good saw for less than half of a DeWalt

i have owned a hitachi. it was junk. i own 4 dewalt's and a milwaukee. the 10 inch milwaukee is great so is the 10 inch dewalt. if your going with a 10 either are fine tools but if you go with a 12 go with dewalt i use it everyday.

Bosch and Makita...I have heard good things about Hitachi. Dewalt is not bad... although i have had recent problems with Dewalt. Rigid has a great warranty

I get paid for using tools like this. I would not have any electrical tool in my truck except Bosch (1), Makita (2) and Hitachi(3). Before you tout DeWalt too much, go to a repairman and see what he says about them, then ask him about Bosch.

if just a diy-er any saw would be sufficient
as long as its not really tall trim that has to stand up i would just settle for a delta brand for about 99.00 and save some money i have two saws ones a 12" sliding dewalt and the other is a delta and i actually use the delta three times as much

I saw a Hitachi at Lowe's last week with lasar alignment for about 160.00. It had nice clamps and work surface. The lasar was seperate from the saw? resulting in the lasar line always being visable on the surface that is being cut. That's going to be my next tool purchase! It was a sweet machine !

I build cabinets and use a Dewalt miter saw daily and it is the best tool in our shop in my opinion. Besides online, I believe Lowes and Home Depot have the best prices for them.
