It's ok if you disregard gum in the toilet, but it would be better if you would throw away your gum in the trash can and disregard it there.

Well I would not want to chew it.

As soon as it hit the cold water it lost it's stickiness and became a small mass that would flush down the drain without the capability of causing any harm to the toilet or drain

like how? did you drop it in and worry about it, did you happen across a piece of gum in a toilet and want to rescue it, what if its not gum?

No- one peace ok, but a constant flow might plug up the trap and lodge along the way. Its best to avoid this.

If you are worried about it put a bucket of ice in and let it melt,then flush probably not a problem unless it's real big though
