Instructions always say 'don't overtighten', but how do you know when you're overtightening? Will you start to hear a little 'harmless' cracking before you actually cause a crack?

We have seen a lovely house to buy. Only problem is that it is near a road - and we can hear the traffic when we are in the garden. Is there a simple way to reduce traffic noise, e:g: sound proof fencing. Is this practical and cost effective, and easy to install? Or should we give up on this house because it is an unsolvable problem?

I need to know if it is possible to make a six sided shape equal on all sides.I am buliding something like a barrier around a plant in the ground of of wood, and we are trying to figure out how to cut the timber. What angle can we use? Or what degree do we need to use so that all sides match up and there is no sides having space in between. Please help, thank you for taking the time to read this question.

I need to sell my home and I have no idea how to do it. Realtors take so much comission. I have called a few investors and am waiting on a price, but if that doesn't work out I would like to sell it myself. I have been told that it is difficult and if you have any info please help. Thankyou.

My house is 16 years old and kitchen floor seems to be solid. If I try to pull plywood, I have to cut plywood around cabinets. If I put tile backboard on top of it, it will raise the floor at least 1/2 inch. So I plan to put ceramic tile directly on top of plywood. Has anyone done this before?

I'm not good at painting. The last time I did it I didn't do the ceiling and when I put tape on the ceiling to avoid getting the wall paint on it, the tape fell off and I ended up getting paint all over it. Any suggestions?

How to do it. Here is a sample of the pattern.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in first sc, to join.
Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 sc in ea sc around. Sl st in first sc, to join. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: ch 1, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. Sl st in first sc, to join. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: ch 1, (sc in ea of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around. Sl st in first sc, to join. (24 sc)
do i count the ch1 stitch as the first stitch in the new round? My circle wont lie flat and it has ruffles which i think means too many increases. Help all of you fellow crocheters out there....

I am replacing windows in my basement. The old ones are single pane old metal set in the mortar. I'm going to use diamond blade to cut the mortar to get the old windows out and then use pressure treated lumber to build a frame for vinyl replacement windows. Any other suggestions? I've done replacement windows, but this is the first time for replacement windows in block. Thanks

I moved in where there is a nice brick grill pit in the back yard, it "had" a gas insert on one side (a rectangular hole with the grill dropped in)and gas burners on the other side, with a dutch oven underneath. The grill part that is inserted was obviously a purchased part and is now totally shot. If I replaced it, even just with grates for wood or charcoal, I could use the pit. I dont' know how to find an insert. I've searched online and can't seem to find the right things. I keep finding everything BUT what I need. Anyone built one of these before and know how to search the parts? Maybe I don't search with the right terminology?
