I am painting furniture, staining ,etc needs better wood than I have. Oil based painting is the best alternative. Having only used water based paint before , what is the best way to apply oil based paint to a table top without getting those brush marks and overlap marks? My 1st attempt was a disaster the paint wouldn't flow together and it looked like I used a broom to apply the paint. Any help would be great.

I have a 50amp 220 wired into an area where I am placing a sauna. I initially thought I would need 220v but the sauna I purchased only need 20amp 110v. I tripped the breaker to the 220v outlet and opened it up to find two hot (1 red and 1 black), a neutral (white), and a ground (bare and connected to the outlet). I what to confirm that I would be converting this outlet to 110v correctly. My plan: 1) replace the double pole breaker in the breakerbox with two single pole, 2) attach one of the two hot wires (either red or black) to one of the single pole breakers, 3) attached the other hot wire not used to the neutral bar, 4) inside, connect 2-1 12 ga wire to the original 220v wiring inside the outlet box (hot wire used to the black on the new wiring, neutral to the white wire, ground to ground), 5) add a drop in box for a new 110v outlet, 6) run the new wiring to that outlet, 7) and connect as usual. Is this correct? Thanks.

Has anyone ever used concrete stepping stones or pavers indoors? I was considering this as an option for a kitchen area vs tile. Cost vs tile?

I have been looking for patterns to make on my vacation to Canada and one of the patterns that I keep seeing is the One Skein Wonder but I really don't have any money until next Friday or until I leave for vacation so I was wondering if anyone had seen a free version of the pattern or if they were willin to share their own pattern. Thanks!!!

assuming there is asbestos in my popcorn ceiling, is it easier to just apply new drywall over the popcorn? also it may be a messy job to scrape off the popcorn anyway. i was thinking of using a layer of plastic in between to avoid disturbing any loose popcorn. any suggestions, experience, or advice?

The finish looks kind of rusty to me but not reddish like rust. They are indoor fixtures. I think it needs more than polishing. Any helpful ideas? I would prefer to do it myself if possible. Thanks fellow rehabbers!

I was just wondering what the different colored (silver, gold, blue) bolts mean. I know the number/marks on the top of the bolt indicate the bolts class. I was just wondering if lets say a class 8 or 10.9 is always the blue color because it is made out of a stronger alloy? Or can it be the other the other two colors (silver, gold) and still be just as strong and in the same class but the blue color is just a film on the outside of the bolt to prevent weathering better?
